Apple. Come on. Don’t you think anyone who would “never forget” the day that the Beatles were on iTunes would probably already own all the Beatles’ music? You’re right though. This is huge. Before now, where could one acquire the Beatles’ music? I mean, who wants to go digging around for clunky old vinyl records that you have to be in one place to listen to? They’re huge, unwieldy, unattractive hunks of black plastic that crackle and pop and attract dust like a goddamn swiffer.
Aside from that, tapes just suck; Really, am I supposed to listen to them or unwind them and wrap a gift? Rewind? What’s that? I have to search for the beginning of the song I want to hear? I didn’t even have to do that on a record!
CDs? Nope.
Downloading is illegal.
Amazon? I’m trying to buy music, not textbooks. Nice try Amazon.
Since all the other forms of music are essentially trash at this point, no one I know owns any Beatles to share with me.
So, as you can see, the only rational way to get music these days in through iTunes, and thank god the Beatles are finally available. Let’s remember that we have Apple to thank, for like raising a handful of water to the eternal thirst of Tantalus, so Apple has finally wetted our thirsts and ended the drought of quality British-invasion rock/midlife crisis acoustic from the greatest musicians to ever grace the planet Earth with their charming brown mops.
Now, let me just delete all this old classical music to make room for the Beatles box set…
